Jim Chan, New York City Videographer | Producer | Editor
I began my career crunching numbers for some of the largest companies in the financial services industry. My father was in the publishing business, so I grew up learning about media, how newspapers are printed, and how ink colors are mixed to create different colors. I always had an eye for visual imagery. I’ve always been passionate about business and wanted to run my own business, so I decided to pursue my second career in video production. In 2005, I went back to school for a Masters degree and studied Film and TV production. As a New York City Videographer, it has given me countless opportunities to work with people from different businesses every day.
Since 2007, I’ve handled many types of video productions including commercials, branded video, documentaries, broadcast news including networks and foreign media, corporate videos, e-learning content, and event coverage.
Every day is an opportunity to create something great. From pre-production to the end product, I assist my clients every step of the way and provide solutions, including interviewing individuals, operating the camera, lighting, directing and editing. I know how to help anyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. I am comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Being able to work towards making exciting videos is extremely rewarding.
I pride myself on being a storyteller. Whether it’s working with scripted material and through editing, I take all visual and audio components and craft it into great videos. My goal is to help you create content that will engage with your audience.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance from CUNY Baruch College. I also hold a Masters degree in Communications specializing in Television & Film Production from The New York Institute of Technology. I work from my office in downtown NYC servicing most of the New York Metro area on many different types of productions. I also have a video production studio in the Financial District primarily for interviews and messages. I also work with many wonderful film and tv professionals on various sized projects.
