Jim Chan, NYC Videographer
Since 2010, I’ve handled many types of video productions. Working with many wonderful organizations has rewarded me with many new and exciting experiences.
Every day is an opportunity to create something great. From pre-production to the end product, I assist my clients each step of the way and provide solutions, including interviewing individuals, operating the camera, lighting, directing and editing. I know how to help anyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. I am comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Being able to work towards making exciting videos is extremely rewarding.
I pride myself on being a storyteller. I take the visual and audio components and craft it into great videos. My goal is to help you create content that will engage with your audience.
My Process
My goal is to give my clients great personal service. Although I am happy to discuss your project, I do believe it is in your best interest to contact prospective vendors for quotes and get a feel for what they offer and see if there is a fit. Keep in mind every project is different.
- Send an email first. It’s the most efficient way to reach a few vendors and get good responses. It allows prospective vendors to carefully consider your project and quote accurately while you receive quotes from multiple vendors.
- You will be dealing with me directly and not a sales rep or another team member.
- I believe in transparency. I provide quotes that breakdown of all costs and expenses. I have separate hourly rates for filming and editing.
- I have different rates for corporate, non-profits, and individuals.
- My turnaround time is usually 1-2 weeks for most projects. It may vary depending on my filming schedule.
Skills, Not Gadgets
I love the technical aspects of my work, but it’s not what drives me. I love being able to please my clients. I do love being able to keep up with the latest technical advances, but I'm a firm believer that the latest camera models won't automatically make someone produce great work. I trust my skills to produce great work. I'm amazed at how far this industry has come. I started with video as a hobby in the mid-2000s when mini-dv tapes were being phased out. The technology quickly advanced to HD and now we have 4K and above video displays and recording formats.
Please contact me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
